Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween! The first of many! Trey and Bella are too small to fit into Halloween costumes, so they have Halloween bibs this year, a gift from Mommy's friend Amy!

Roller Skating Doctor?
Trey and Bella had their first RSV shot today at the Pediatrician. Instead of a vaccine that helps the body build immunities to a disease, this is the actual stuff that fights RSV, which is why they will get this injection once a month through the RSV season. We saw a different Pediatrician from their office today and he was wearing roller skates!

First Babysitter
Bella and Trey had their first babysitter today - Pop Pop! Mommy had to go get a flu shot so Pop Pop came to look after the babies. They had lots of fun!

Home Care
The home care nurse came today to check Trey and Bella. She said they are both doing very well!
Trey weighs 5 pounds 5 ounces and is 18 1/2 inches long!

First Pediatrician Visit
Trey and Bella had their first visit to their Pediatrician today! Doctor Krol said they both look great! The go back next week for their first RSV Vaccination.

No More Feeding Tubes
Trey and Bella are doing very well!
Both babies had their feeding tubes removed today!
Trey and Bella both took their car seat tests today and they both passed!
Bella had her blood oxygen monitor removed today and is no longer getting fortifier in her breast milk!
Bella and Trey both did great with all of their nursing sessions and all of their bottles!
Trey weighs 5 pounds 1.6 ounces tonight and is 18 inches long and Bella weighs 4 pounds 13.3 ounces tonight and is 17 inches long!

Head Ultrasounds
The results of Trey and Bella's head ultrasounds came in today and both were normal!
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey ate 52 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella ate 33 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
At their second nursing sessions today, Trey took 56 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella took 43 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
At their third nursing sessions today, Trey took 43 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella took 41 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Trey took all 5 of his bottles today! He will be moving to Ad Lib feeding tomorrow, at which time he can eat however much he wants whenever he wants as long as he eats at least every four hours!
Bella took all 3 of her bottles today and will be moving to 8 by mouth feedings tomorrow!
Trey weighs 5 pounds 2.1 ounces and Bella weighs 4 pounds 12.7 ounces!

Poor Trey
Trey's amount of breast milk per feeding was increased to 46 cc's today and Bella's amount of breast milk per feeding was increased to 42 cc's today.
Trey was circumcised today, Mommy's poor little boy! He was a trooper though!
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey ate 34 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella ate 50 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
At their second nursing sessions today, Trey took 32 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella took 46 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
At their third nursing sessions today, Trey took 22 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella took 50 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Trey finished all 6 of his bottles today! He was a little slow with some of them, so he will stay at 5 bottles and 3 breast feeds tomorrow.
Bella finished 2 of her 3 bottles today for a total of 6 by mouth feedings. She took 1/2 of the other bottles, so she will stay at 3 bottles and 3 breast feeds tomorrow.

Daily update
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella ate 31 and 14 cc's of breast milk from Mommy, respectively. Mommy is a little concerned that the nurse used the scale that has malfunctioned on us before, so we are going to request that we use the other scale this afternoon.
At their second nursing sessions today, Trey took 51 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella took 38 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Trey finished four of the six bottles he was offered today. He took 15 cc's from one bottle and 30 cc's from one bottle.
Bella only finished one of the four bottles she was offered today. She only took 10 cc's from the two bottles and 4 cc's from one bottle. It was a hot/cold bottle day for her!
Trey weighs 5 pounds 1.2 ounces and Bella weighs 4 pounds 10.8 ounces!

Daddy's First Feeding Session
Trey and Bella looked great today!
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella each ate 44 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Trey's feeding tube and oxygen monitor were removed today!
Trey and Bella both received their Hepatitis vaccination today. Mommy was there to comfort them when they cried.
Trey is no longer getting fortifier in his breast milk since he is gaining weight well and taking most of his feedings completely by mouth.
At their second nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella each ate 32 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Daddy fed Bella a bottle for the first time today! Mommy fed Trey part of a bottle for the first time tonight!
Trey finished four of the six bottles he was offered today. Since he only took 35 cc's and 20 cc's from the other two bottles, the night nurse had to give him back his feeding tube :(
Bella finished three of the four bottles she was offered today. She only took 10 cc's from the other bottle.

Worked it out
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella ate 42 and 36 cc's of breast milk from Mommy, respectively!
Mommy thinks we finally have the number of by mouth feedings that Trey and Bella are supposed to be getting corrected. Mommy spoke with the nurse manager today since the nurses were not offering Trey and Bella the number of bottles per day that they were supposed to be offered over the weekend.
At their second nursing sessions today, Trey took 50 cc's of breast milk from Mommy and Bella took 44 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Trey finished all five bottles that he was given in addition to his breast feeding!
Bella finished three of the for bottles she was given in addition to her breast feeding. She was only four cc's short if finishing the fourth one!

"Graduating"
Trey and Bella are doing well!
Trey "graduated" to six by mouth feedings per day ~ two breast feedings with Mommy and four bottles! Bella will stay at four by mouth feedings per day until she completely finishes her two daily bottles!
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey took 44 cc's of breast milk from Mommy (4 more then his feeding amount ~ first time doing this) and Bella (Mommy's breast feeding girl!) took 32 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!

Feeding Progress
Trey and Bella moved up to four by mouth feeding per day today! The doctor is very happy with their progress!
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella ate 20 and 31 cc's of breast milk from Mommy, respectively!
Trey and Bella both finished bottle number one today! The nurse said that Trey was very excited and gobbled his right down. Bella didn't want to take hers until she thought no one was paying attention, then she drank the whole thing.
At their second nursing session of the day, Trey and Bella both did great! Bella took 40 cc's of breast milk from Mommy. Trey did a good job taking milk, but the scale malfunctioned so we are not sure exactly how much he ate. Because of this, he was offered a bottle for the rest of his feeding, and he took 5 cc's of breast milk from the bottle, so Mommy is guessing he ate about 30-35 cc's of breast milk directly from Mommy!
Trey and Bella are both doing well with bottle feeding. Trey finished his second bottle of the day tonight! Bella definitely prefers the breast ~ she only took 18 cc's from her second bottle.

One MONTH old
Gerald Charles and Isabella Christine are one month old today!!!!
Trey and Bella were offered a bottle again today ~ and both babies took the entire bottle!
At their first nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella ate 18 and 39 cc's of breast milk from Mommy, respectively!
At their second nursing sessions today, Trey and Bella ate 28 and 21 cc's of breast milk from Mommy, respectively!
Since Trey and Bella both completed three successful feedings by mouth today, they will both be offered four feeding by mouth tomorrow! (A successful bottle feeding means that they completed the entire bottle and a successful breast feeding means that they latched on correctly and transferred milk from Mommy to their tummy. They can not have any alarms from heart rate decelerations or oxygen desaturations for these feedings to be counted as "successful".)

Bottle or Breast?
Mommy spoke with the NICU Doctor in the morning when she woke up to pump and the Doctor told Mommy that both Gerald and Isabella had a great night!
Bella took 42 cc's of breast milk from Mommy at her morning nursing session! Someone must have forgotten to tell Bella that she only eats 36 cc's per feeding.
Trey did an excellent job at his first nursing session of the day! He took 30 cc's of breast milk from Mommy!
Mommy had her post partum check up today. Dr. Rosen said that Mommy is doing very well. He said there are still some things that will be difficult or uncomfortable for Mommy's incision, but gave Mommy approval to resume living like a normal human being again ~ for the very first time this year! Mommy is almost back to her pre-pregnancy/pre-fertility medication weight. She only has five more pounds to loose!

Gaining weight
Trey and Bella were both doing well when Mommy called the NICU in the morning.
They decided not to try Bella on the bottle quite yet because she still had some low heart rate dips last night. Perhaps in a few days, they will both be ready for their bottles!
